The 5mw red 650nm laser has multiple day-to-day and survival uses.

Laser pointers make a potent signaling tool, even in daylight, and are able to produce a bright signal for potential search and rescue vehicles when hiking and camping. They are also excellent at illuminating the reflective tape used on life jackets and vests, ring buoys, survival suits and navigation aids

UV lights (also known as black lights) have multiple day-to-day and survival uses.

UV light can be used to detect counterfeit currecny, credit cards and drivers licenses. Most major currencies either have a UV sensitive strip or ink that will glow under UV light.

Did you know that scorpions glow-in-the-dark under a UV light?! The UV light feature is an invaluable survival tool in desert and tropical locations where scorpions can hide in crevices at night.
